Random Chaos Reticulation and Forged Series

Reticulation

This technique was discovered in the late 1800’s by the  personal jeweler to the Czar of Russia.  Designers such as Faberge’  have used this technique designing sculptural pieces and adoring functional pieces such as eye glass cases and whiskey flasks.  Reticulation is a serendipitous process and the challenge is using what comes out.  It is a process that forces change in the molecular make up of a sheet of metal.  Mostly silver, 80/20 and 14k gold 60/40.  First you heat the sheet to an annealing temp, (dull red,) and quench in acid several times this allows the pure form of the metal to the surface.  After annealing several times the pure metal and the alloy heat at different temperatures creating a wrinkled and stressed surface. In my designs 14k accents and stone settings are added, then chemical oxidation is used to reveal the wrinkled surface.

Left: RF1B: The "Healer" bracelet of the Random Chaos Series is high polished sterling silver with 14K yellow gold settings and accents. The bracelet is lined with a solid piece of sterling for comfort and strength. The wearable art look of the "Healer" bracelet compliments with its intriguing negative space openings while allowing the wrist to shine through. Available in most wrist sizes.

Due to the "Random Chaos" of the reticulation process, no two pieces are alike.  Each piece is one of a kind.  If you like one of the bracelets displayed, they can be recreated, but not duplicated.  Each piece is designed around the result of the reticulation process.
